What do you think about this situation...?

... tonight i had a religious discussion with a christian friend of mine whose parents are from africa. she was saying that god is good and provides for his ''children'' and i asked her what about in africa? has god forsaken them? she retorts, ''maybe they are under a curse''. i then proceeded to ask if she accepted evolution, she said yes, as she has a degree in animal science just as i do; but then tells me she believes the creation story over evolution even though she has seen the first hand evidence of it in the same biology and zoology labs i have. are some people just hopeless?
