Does anyone think the salvation army volunteer job is ineffective?

i mean they stand there for hours waiting for people to drop quarters in their cans. Shouldn't they start accepting credit cards by now? Isn't it more effective to actually have the volunteers work for an hour or 2 and then donate the money they worked for to the salvation army? I'm just saying....
