Is $2million enough to take care of a quadriplegic and his wife for the rest of their lives?

My mom's husband recently paralyzed and weren't offered much. What all will or should workman's comp pay for as far as medical, future hospital visits, and equipment? After buying land and a house not to mention paying for the lawyer fees they won't be left with much. So will the remaining 1.3 mil be enough to take care of things? Does he pay for his own precriptions? That is $3k per month and paying for caregivers is another $3k or so per month. So will a little math figures it doesn't seem that the money will last long unless workman's comp is paying for more than just the settlement. Also this is the state of virginia so laws may be different due to being a commonwealth. Might also be a malpractice case because the hospital that performed the surgery caused this. Thanks in advance.
