Is bed A Beast a safe loose substrate?

Im thinking about getting an african fat tail gecko and I hear that it is 100% digestable beacuse of the materials its made of. is this true? Iv never heard of anything being impacted by it but iv head that people have had problems with mites,mold, and even maggots in it. how can i prevent this?
